Urban Health Plan

An $88 million comprehensive health care provider, Urban employs 764 associates and providers in The Bronx and Queens and delivers care to over 68,000 patients.  Urban is the largest employer in the Longwood community (zip code 10459) and operates three facilities in the Hunts Point peninsula—Bella Vista Health Center (comprehensive care), Bella Vista Community Health Center (dental and optometry), and Project HOPE, a workforce development center on Hunts Point Avenue.

Other programming and service provider stakeholders include:

  • Sustainable South Bronx:  A workforce development and environmental advocacy organization
  • The Knowledge House:  A coders’ cooperative and training organization offering young people mentorship, work experiences, and workshops in digital media and other tech fields.
  • Casita Maria:  An historic, arts-based settlement house based in a new 90,000 sq. ft. facility in the Longwood neighborhood.
  • Rocking the Boat:  A youth development organization that employs wooden boatbuilding, environmental stewardship, and maritime skills training to help young people build confidence and achieve their educational objectives. 
  • BronxWorks:  A social service and training organization that helps individuals and families become self-sufficient and improve their economic and social well-being.
